Most summers are opportunities to take a break, reflect and recharge. I am thankful for visits from my mother and my mother-in-law. I am pleased to be able to travel regularly. And I am also excited about the many opportunities to present at community events. Here is my speaking schedule for summer 2017.
July 15: SQL Saturday Atlanta
https://www.sqlsaturday.com/652/eventhome.aspx
I will be doing my talk titled “12 Things to Know about Azure SQL DB.” I have a blog post coming with some more details about that talk. In the meantime, you can read one about logging on to Azure with PowerShell.
I am pleased to have been selected to speak once more at one of the largest SQL Saturday events in the world. There’s always great energy, wonderful talks and valuable networking.
July 20: Lower Alabama .NET User Group, Mobile, AL
http://lanug.net
I will be delivering a talk about integrating Azure Application Insights with ASP.NET API and MVC applications. I’ll use the latest Application Insights SDK to configure an ASP.NET project. Then I will discuss some of the features that the SDK added to the project. Some custom coding will also be done to leverage metrics, etc.
July 29: SQL Saturday Baton Rouge
https://www.sqlsaturday.com/628/eventhome.aspx
For this SQL Saturday, I am delivering a very developer-oriented talk: App to Azure in 60 Minutes. This talk is all about taking an existing web application (in this case, ASP.NET MVC) and publishing to Azure. Along the way, several Azure services and features will be discussed.
The Baton Rouge SQL Saturday has long been a favorite of mine. People who know me might think it’s about the food and that’s partially true.
September 9: Gulf Coast Code Camp, Mobile, AL
Just recently announced, the Lower Alabama .NET User Group (LANUG) is organizing the first code camp in the region in many years. I will be submitting developer-oriented talks mainly around Azure and SQL Server development.

I hope to see YOU at one of these events!
